5 Days trip features mountain gorilla tracking in Bwindi forest plus a visit to Queen Elizabeth national park for a guided game drive & boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Trip combines the best primate tracking, bird watching, game viewing and nature walks in Uganda.
DAY 1– Transfer to Bwindi forest national park
Today you will be picked up by our driver from your location after breakfast to Bwindi forest national park. This park hosts over half of the last mountain gorilla in the world and a record of up to 120 mammals and 230 bird species. By evening, you will be in bwindi where you will check in at one of the lodges, refresh a bit, have dinner and spend the night.
DAY 2– Gorilla Trekking
You will wake up to ready breakfast and proceed to the park head quarters for a briefing before you begin your adventure in the jungle of Bwindi. Gorilla tracking here lasts up to 5 hours depending on the current location and movement of the gorillas. During this adventurous activity, you will be given about an hour to closely enjoy these primates, take pictures and observe them as they feed, play and see how they live their lives in the jungle. While trekking, you may also come across some mammals and other primates like the red tailed monkeys and baboons plus birds. After this activity, you will head back to the head quarters where you will be awarded gorilla trekking certificates upon your successful adventure as you enjoy your packed lunch. After this meal, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and over night.
DAY 3– Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park via Ishasha
After breakfast, you will immediately start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park through the Ishasha sector which is widely known for its tree climbing lions and the meandering Ishasha river. The males of these lions sport manes that are black making them unique and different from others. Here, you will enjoy a short picnic lunch in the wild before proceeding northwards to Mweya peninsula located just adjacent to the Kazinga channel. You will be driven to either Mweya safari lodge or Ihamba lake side lodge for dinner and sleep over.
DAY 4– Game drive and Kazinga channel boat cruise
Today, you will have breakfast before leaving the lodge for the Kasenyi plain to begin the amazing wildlife safari. Kasenyi plains are located in the north eastern part of the park and it’s actually an open savanna, swarmed with various wild animals with the Uganda safari kob being the dominant animals. Other mammals like elephants, buffalos, water bucks, warthogs, sitatunga antelopes, lions, leopards and servile cats are also common here though rarely seen during day time. After this game drive, you will be driven back to the lodge for a launch cruise trip were you might spot various mammals aquatic mammals and birds like the enormous hippos, reptiles like crocodiles. Later in the evening when this trip is done, you will head back to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and sleep over.
DAY 5– Departure
This being the last day of your Uganda safari adventure, you will have breakfast, check out and embark on the journey back to Kampala. You will pass via fort portal town for lunch; continue with the journey past tea plantations, villages, hills and beautiful scenery as you proceed to Kampala.
