8 days Uganda safari exploring the Karamoja and eastern region for a cultural tour and Kidepo valley wildlife park rewarding you with life time experience. This safari involves birding in mabira forest, rafting and visit to the source of Nile in Jinja, Sipi Falls excursion, cultural tours in the Karamajong communities and game drives in the unique Kidepo valley National Park.
Day 1: Transfer to Mabira Forest – Jinja
After breakfast transfer to Jinja. Stop at the Mabira forest for a nature walk and excellent bird watching experience. Then proceed to Jinja source of Nile; the longest river in Africa. Go for white water rafting along the Nile. Jinja is one of the most exciting rafting in the world and very safe with disposals of qualified guides and international standard equipment. For first-time rafters, this is the best destination to tryout new adventure. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 2: Drive to Mbale - Mt. Elgon
After breakfast and set off to Mbale town for lunch, have a tour in Mbale town local markets, visit the Mbale cultural center. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 3: Trek the Sipi Falls
After an early breakfast, go for a trek through the Sipi Falls on Mount Elgon. The Sipi falls provides an ultimate opportunity for abseiling. Expect superb vegetation with banana and coffee plantations and view of the Karamoja valley. After lunch, proceed with the journey to Moroto through Namalu and enter the semi-arid land of the Karamoja region. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 4: Karamoja Cultural Tour
After breakfast, proceed to explore the culture and people of Karamoja through the facilitation of local cooperation projects. Expect a visit to Lopotuk villages and the dispensary, the youth centre and you can request to assist local performances, music and dance. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 5: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park
After your breakfast, embark on your trip Northwards via Kaabong and Kotido to reach one of the most unspoiled and wild places remaining in Africa; Kidepo Valley National Park. It was named after the river traversing this region at the border between Sudan and Kenya. The region is characterized by mountains, hills and valleys. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 6: Game drive in Kidepo
After an early breakfast, you proceed for photographic game drives along the trails of Kidepo Valley Park. The park inhabits one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which are only found in Kidepo, like cheetah, striped hyena and caracal, with over 465 bird species including the ostriches. Embark on a hike on Lamoj Mountains just a few kilometers from the Park Headquarters. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 7: Cultural Performance
After your breaksfast, take an adventurous cultural encounter with community near the park which stages cultural dances and performances. Traditional dances such as the Emuya of the Naporre and Nyangia, Larakaraka and Apiti dances of the Acholi are worthy to see and participate into. Visit the Karamajong manyattas (homesteads) where you will probably see kraals belonging to local communities, traditional costume, stools, spears headdress, knives, bows and arrows and jewelry among others. Visits to the splendid Kidepo River Valley dominated by Borassus palm forest. Visits to the Kanangorok Hot Springs, located only 11 km from Kidepo river valley. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala / Entebbe
after an early breakfast, drive back to Kampala via Gulu after all these Adventurous tour activities.
